The Game #3 Crash

Presenting The Game #3 Crash by Eve Silver.

Here is the summary of the book:

A thrilling action/suspense novel for fans of The Fifth Wave about contemporary teens pulled in and out of an alternate reality where battling aliens is more than a game—it's life and death.

Miki’s life is falling apart around her. Her dad and best friend are lying in the hospital. The Game is glitching, making missions more frequent and more deadly. And someone close to her is waiting for the right moment to betray her.

Miki feels like she’s hanging on by a thread and the only thing keeping her tethered is Jackson’s hand in hers. Yet telling him how much she needs him, how much she loves him, feels like the biggest challenge of all. And if Miki really wants the missions to end for everyone, she’ll have to let go and be ready to fight when the walls between the Game and reality come crashing down. Because if there’s one thing she’s learned, it’s that she’s got a whole lot left to lose.

Crash is the pulse-pounding conclusion to the Game trilogy fans won’t want to miss.

An action-packed (surprisingly) emotionally deep final book in the series. The decisive chapter. For Miki, Jackson and their troop against the Drau invaders. With plenty of action, plenty of drama, of mystery, and plenty of emotional overtures, 'Crash' comes crashing down on us weapons ablaze and keeps us invested along for the ride.

Eve Silver keeps the story straight while spinning curveballs at us as we near the end. Answers never expected are unearthed, about the true nature of the game, the committee and their purpose in it all. The truth is a bitter pill to swallow isn't it! But Miki and Jackson soldier on. Devastating to know that your reasons for fighting are even more sinister than naught. Situations are depressing because of Miki's dad and Carly are in the hospital in intensive care. Situations are rock bottom for Miki but kind and sexy Jackson picks her back up.

There wasn't much in the sense of romance but the much we see was sweet and more than enough. The author, as I already stated maintains the flow of the plot. Nothing lacking. Neither the plot, neither the action, neither the pace nor the twists & turns. The characterization was definitely a plus. The despair among the players over all the lives lost to the years they gave to the game can be felt through the pages, tugging at our hearts.

That said, 'Crash' is clearly the final book of the series and as such i'm sad to see it end. Of course the tale is far from over since the book ends on a hopeful open ending. Action-packed and dramatic till the end, I would totally look forward to more books in the series if it is ever a possibility.

The Game #2 Push

Presenting The Game #2 Push by Eve Silver.

Here is the summary of the book:

It’s either break the rules or die.

Miki Jones lives her life by her own strict set of rules, to keep control, to keep the gray fog of grief at bay. Then she’s pulled into the Game, where she—and her team—will die unless she follows a new set of rules: those set by the mysterious Committee.

But rules don’t mean answers, and without answers, it’s hard to trust. People are dying. The rules are unraveling. And Miki knows she’s being watched, uncertain if it’s the Drau or someone—something—else. Forced to make impossible choices and battling to save those she loves, Miki begins to see the Committee in a glaring new light.

And then the Game crosses a new boundary, pushes harder into Miki’s and her friends’ lives, and there’s nothing in the rules that can save them now.

Push is the sequel Rush fans will be screaming for.

RUSH showed us a unique take on YA sci-fi dystopia, inside the confines of a war for survival turned into a deadly game strand. And sequel PUSH only serves to expand on such boundaries. Albeit suffering some 2nd book syndrome but none the less an exciting sequel.

While RUSH cleared up the mythos behind the game and the Drau much but details are still murky in PUSH. We are only offered clues, only clues. So hopefully things will be clarified in the third book. But I liked most about this book? It is purely character study. All the characters specially Miki go through some major character development. She met Jackson in the game, falls in love with him and he betrays her by using her as his replacement as team leader to earn his freedom. But at the end of book 1 he comes back to save Miki and gets takes in the process.

There is no love lost between them. Miki is still angry and feeling a little betrayed by Jackson but she loves him and is prepared to take drastic measures to keep him safe. I liked how Jackson and her relationship progressed throughout this leg of the journey. They each share a deep understanding for each other, respect and over-protectiveness in leaps and bounds. There is angst there of course but love is there too, gracious and passionate.

Lets not forget the game though. Exhilarating and action packed, this fight against the resident evil, the Drau grows deadlier by the hour. The committee grows sneakily darker and the Drau grow bolder by each mission breaking boundaries to the real world and endangering the human species and Miki and her team are fighting tooth & nail to save us all.

Still it gets a star less because of the apparent lack of plot progress. Although the action is plenty but still no sense of direction to the overall plot, which I hope will be rectified in CRASH. But good job by Eve Silver and I enjoyed every bit of this emotionally charged action packed adventure.

"An emotionally charged, action-packed sequel"

The Game #1 Rush

THE RUSH RELEASES TOMORROW..... A gamer's paradise this book is. Presenting The Game #1 Rush by Eve Silver.

Here is the summary of the book:

So what’s the game now? This, or the life I used to know?

When Miki Jones is pulled from her life, pulled through time and space into some kind of game—her carefully controlled life spirals into chaos. In the game, she and a team of other teens are sent on missions to eliminate the Drau, terrifying and beautiful alien creatures. There are no practice runs, no training, and no way out. Miki has only the guidance of secretive but maddeningly attractive team leader Jackson Tate, who says the game isn’t really a game, that what Miki and her new teammates do now determines their survival, and the survival of every other person on this planet. She laughs. He doesn’t. And then the game takes a deadly and terrifying turn.

Rush was..... a rush.... A Gamer's paradise is what this is. be it a pro-gamer, mild-gamer, a thrill-seeker or those of us(readers) looking to disappear in a world not their own. Its aliens, its thrilling, its action-packed and its exhilarating..... And its new with an equally amazing cover..... I'm trying to write a spoiler free spoiler but man this one will be hard.....

Ok i'll try..... Alien's are attacking and in a sort of hunger games way children are selected to fight this oncoming horde. Ok that came out wrong.... Its just its so brilliant, the concept for this book and so new that posting a spoiler free review will be difficult..... very difficult....

Ok I'll try again..... this is Miki Jones' tale, who dies after trying to save a child from an oncoming truck. As an after life extravaganza, Miki gets pulled into a world not her own. A world governed by laws not her own. She finds that there is more to this world than she ever knew. Contrary to popular believes there are other species in this universe too besides us and they want to take over Earth. Its a game.... its a very dangerous game Miki and her group must play to keep the enemy at bay.

I confess it took me a little time to actually get into the book because Ms. Silver didn't leave breathing space in this. Quite good work too. The rules of the game are vague but the action pretty much makes up for it and that is what makes it such an interesting introduction. What is remarkable is that romance takes an almost backseat in this book and that was what made it all the more interesting..... make room for the action to flourish. I am totally eager for its thrilling sequel(even though this is just releasing).

"Its a game and its a question of life and death.... Eve Silver spins a tale that is new, action-packed, gametastic, and intense.... BRAVO. BRAVA"
