Of Poseidon #1 Of Poseidon

Another tale of water myths. Presenting Of Poseidon #1 Of Poseidon by Anna Banks.

Here is the summary of the book:

Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen — literally, ouch! — both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma's gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom . . . Told from both Emma and Galen's points of view, here is a fish-out-of-water story that sparkles with intrigue, humor, and waves of romance.

It seems I have been reading a lot of books on the mer-folk these days. Anna Banks' Of Poseidon makes quite a mark on it. Twisting the original myth about the Greek water God Poseidon and his son Triton. Mer-folk or called Syrena here are the tight knit group with some strict rules.

This is the story of the Syrena Prince Galen and the human girl Emma....you will find out what it is about when you read it. Galen is on land to see what is it about this girl that has his human associates in a twist....but there you go Galen himself gets gobsmacked by this porcelain beauty.

So, out of the two characters Galen and Emma I liked Galen much better than the girl. Galen is the stud, the perfect boy for every girl and very forceful when he means to be. GOD IS HE SEXY. On the other hand there is Emma.....definitely did not like her. While she took to the changes in her life in spades but most of the time she felt like a petulant child. She is rather the perfect teenager.

Then there is the writing, not at all balanced there. The book reaches a conclusion almost a little late than necessary, a little dragged too. I would have loved to have seen a bit more about Poseidon's people in there. But its saving grace is definitely the stellar chemistry between Galen and Emma. Definitely liked the fact that it  was gradual love and not insta-love, would have killed all the fun. I'll give Of Triton a chance too.

"A very different mer-folk..oops......Syrena love strory"

  2. Well, this book looks very interesting. This reminds me of Florence by Ciye Cho. It was wonderful and very lovely. I loved the protagonist in that novel, she was quirky , sweet, and not very beautiful. I will definitely add this to my TBR.
