After Eden, the first book of the duology was in itself a complete story and according to my opinions 'Chasing Stars' wasn't needed at all. But then I saw it on netgalley (this is the e-arc review) and I thought, why not? Lets see where Douglas goes with this because I absolutely loved After Eden. But this finale disappointed me a bit.

Eden and Ryan are separated for majority of the story when another cleaner comes and blackmails them both into going back to the future. But there Ryan is arrested and Eden is sent off free into this future. I liked that Douglas explored this sci-fi and very unique future. The only thing that I liked about this book was the future and its many facets..... And then Eden meets Ryan's friends but only Pegasus is fleshed out and evolves throughout while the others serve only as mentions.

For someone as resourceful as Eden, she comes across slightly as an idiot this time. Boyfriend is facing a major trial, that would very much decide his life and she is getting drunk and partying with his friends almost every time. And only springs into action when the bad happens to whisk Ryan out of jail and run away. And there they go running away and we really don't get to see what happens to the others in their attempted escape. So no I was disappointed because it lacked what After Eden had and of course the presence of so many loose ends.

There is time travel. There is Cornwall, England. There is a star-crossed romance (somewhat) and most of all it is a mission of the utmost importance and the fate of the Earth may very well depend on its success. Time travel stories seem to be in vogue these days and Helen Douglas' After Eden is a fantastic addition to the list.

A lot of novels tend to make us study..... come on now every now and then you would have come across stories that have the ability to that..... seriously this book actually made me do that.... and physics at that..... it was the topic of relativity I studied at school and made me research the studies on time travel......and that definitely does not happen everyday..... Although for me sci-fi books tend to do that a lot.

All right. All right. I bloody well loved it. The tale is quite easy to understand. Eden is the normal everyday high school girl, leading a normal high school life but things turn for the best when mysterious Ryan Westland comes to her school..... And he doesn't know what pizza is...... WOW. Ryan is on a mission to the past from 50 years in the future and Eden finds out that the safety of the Earth is in question..... definitely not a nice thought.

I absolutely liked the way Douglas told her story. As far the book is concerned only the 4th dimension time travel is mentioned and the thereafter customary detials but its good she didn't go descriptive on the science of the matter or readers would have gotten bored...... Characters are important ..... plot is too.... but most of all mission Earth is what takes first priority.

Eden & Ryan. Liked them both very much. Eden is the girl who loves to solve puzzles a lot and is a very simple and determined girl, very stubborn and loyal. to her cause as well. Ryan, well he is a mystery; doesn't know who Hitler is or what pizza is..... but on the other hand is very much a brainiac. It is when the two get together that things start to unravel. The planet, the future everything could be saved with the success of this mission...... You should read it folk, you'll enjoy it.

Helen Douglas did a fantastic job with After Eden. She took a simple but partially futuristic tale, gave it a good number of twist & turns and the romance...... don't forget the subtle romance..... Definitely excited for the sequel but got to say this book works rather well as a standalone.
