Presenting Breathe #1 Breathe by Sarah Crossan.
Here is the summary of the book:
The world has no air. If you want to survive, you pay to breathe. But what if you can't? And what if you think everything could be different? Three teens will leave everything they know behind in Sarah Crossan's gripping and original dystopian teen novel of danger, longing, and glimmering hope that will appeal to fans of Patrick Ness and Veronica Roth.
Ever since the Switch, when the oxygen levels plummeted and most of humanity died, the survivors have been protected in glass domes full of manufactured air. Protected . . . or trapped? Or controlled? Alina's a revolutionary who believes we can save the environment. Quinn's a Premium who's never had to worry about having enough air. His best friend, Bea, is an Auxiliary who's never worried about anything but having enough air. When the three cross paths, they will change everything. Sarah Crossan's thrilling and provocative novel is about passion, about yearning for something better, and about breaking free for the very first time.

If you are a dystopian fan then you will definitely love this. Dystopia always provides for some pretty interesting outlook to a possible future of this world, humanity in general. Crossan apocalyptic world relates to the degradation of nature.... You can't go more natural than that. And the cover with the cracked ground and glass dome gives the perfect impression to what is expected of this book.
No air. No Oxygen. This is a future with the planet ravaged by natural causes. In a totalitarian environment, the company Breathe governs the laws and taxing of oxygen to all the survivors of 'the Switch' living in the dome. Oxygen is one commodity which we have always taken for granted. And Crossan's devastated world gives is quite an accurate view of a world that can someday come true (who am I kidding, every dystopic book has a possibility of coming true). Perfectly illustrating what oxygen means to us...... and what would happen if we short of it.
And Bea, Alina and Quinn are the three individuals who help tell Crossan's story and drive the point across. Alina is the revolutionary who wants to give oxygen for free. Bea is the innocent bystander who gets caught up in the power struggle between the dome government and the rebels. Quinn finally is the privileged elite, naive to the world but had his eyes opened in rather harsher conditions.
A unique and different concept. Crossan beautifully sculpts a world outside a world. There is a world within the dome and there is a world outside the dome. And using three radically very different personalities the author presents her tale. All of them the oxygen, be it for whatever purpose but you can't dispute the fact that oxygen is something we always take for granted........ Praise the lord we breathe free!!!!
"Sarah Crossan paints a harsh and exciting world where oxygen is not free"
