Breathe #2 Resist

HAPPY RELEASE DAY!!!!! And a compelling finale. Presenting Breathe #2 Resist by Sarah Crossan.

Here is the summary of the book:

The sequel—and conclusion—to Sarah Crossan's Breathe. Three teen outlaws must survive on their own in a world without air, exiled outside the glass dome that protects what's left of human civilization. Gripping action, provocative ideas, and shocking revelations in a dystopian novel that fans of Patrick Ness and Veronica Roth will devour.

Bea, Alina, and Quinn are on the run. They started a rebellion and were thrown out of the pod, the only place where there's enough oxygen to breathe. Bea has lost her family. Alina has lost her home. And Quinn has lost his privileged life. Can they survive in the perilous Outlands? Can they finish the revolution they began? Especially when a young operative from the pod's Special Forces is sent after them. Their only chance is to stand together, even when terrible circumstances force them apart. When the future of human society is in danger, these four teens must decide where their allegiances lie. Sarah Crossan has created a dangerous, and shattered society in this wrenching, thought-provoking, and unforgettable post-apocalyptic novel.

Picks up where Breathe finishes. The survivors of 'the Grove' now head to Sequoia. Alina, Bea and Quinn head the same. And Ronan (we saw him in Breathe) now joining the quota heads out from the dome on Jude Caffrey's orders to get Quinn back in order to start over. Out in the wild their slowly dwindling food and oxygen, is Sequoia really the salvation the resistance needs or must they take up arms themselves to save oxygen.

Crossan weaves a story, rather a bittersweet finale, delicately balancing the dystopia, the plot, the revolt, the harsh realities, of truths and of unforseen deaths. A fast read and action packed, the author's way of presentation and penmanship are commendable. The characters sure seemed much more stronger this time around. I especially liked the dynamics of Maude and Bea's friendship.

And while the introduction to the new rebel camp felt flat, it did serve its purpose..... If I am given a choice in much place to live in, my only answer would be not Sequoia...... oh it will be clear why when you will read it.....

"An action-packed and thought-provoking conclusion"
