Bloodlines #4 The Fiery Heart

Presenting Bloodlines #4 The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead.

Here is the summary of the book:

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets - and human lives.

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .

But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure — and re-education — looms larger than ever.

Pulses will race throughout this smoldering fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

A big giant emotional roller coaster ride is what this is. If you thought the third book was the 'IT', then think again because Richelle Mead has upped the scales with The Fiery Heart and of course the cherry on the top being.... finally Adrian's POV. 'Sydrian' all the way....

Maybe that is the reason the ending hurt so much.... How could they do that to my (our) poor 'Sydrian'.... The horror..... Oh THE FEELS!.... Back to point. Let's talk Sydney and Adrian. After the conclusively happy ending turn of events of the third book, Sydney has finally embraced her feelings for Adrian. Aren't there two just perfect together... She openly expresses her feelings for the hot moroi, well as openly as possible without Alchemist interventions. A far cry from the Sydney we saw in the Vampire Academy series or at the start of the Bloodline series. And I am sure we all appreciate the changes we see in her.

Adrian is still the charming witty guy and still the focus of our (ahem!ahem) fantasies. His chapters bring out his feelings even more conclusively. He is a spirit user and this brilliant insight in his mind showcases all of his highs and lows, his passionate feelings of love for Sydney and his struggles to do right by her. And of course the 'Sydrian' hot and heavy scenes truly become hot and heavy as we experience what those two hot and in love are feeling at those moments.

Jill, Eddie, Angeline, Trey and new guy Neil also proved themselves. Zoe although, has a kill order on her head. She was just so annoying. The proverbial road block between Sydney and Adrian. I understand that she grew up an ardent follower of the orthodox alchemist ways. But she and her father played an awful role in the awful ending to his part of the story. So no she doesn't get no brownie points from me. No body, I repeat no body breaks the 'Centrum Permanebit'.

Mead had surely outdone herself with this one. It has everything that a perfect plot needs. The emotional roller coaster, a strong plot, strong and fledgling characters, kick ass action, passionately swoon-worthy romance and of course a heart breaking cliffhanger. Silver Shadows is what I need now to sooth my breaking heart.

"A right proper roller coaster of passionate emotions"

  1. Oh nice review! It's this ending that I heard about that has caused me to wait as long as possible to read this one! Doing good so far with the waiting! Plus I got a ton of review books that need my attention, so I should be properly delayed for a time.

But then I will read it, then read Silver Shadows and then scream in what will be agony because I just know there'll be a cliffhanger there too! But I cannot, repeat cannot, wait until the last book comes out to read the rest! I am just not that strong! In fact, I am surprised with myself that I have lasted this long with not reading Fiery Heart! But I think I can manage it--to read TFH--because I do have quite a stack of review books to read!

Great review! Sooooo cannot wait to get back into this world with our Sydrian!
